My First Tooth gunning for xmas number 2

Oh RATM – oh faceless pop act from The X Factor whatever your name is… Christmas number 1 is all very well good, but as the public continue to line the pockets of Cowell and Sony (I hear Rage are pledging all their profits to charity which is ace) spare a thought for the beloved campaign of Alcopop’s very own My First Tooth. Handsome of face, charming of wit and delicious of song – they’re gunning for Xmas number 2 (1 is just so bloody passé) – and at last check we were but 200,000 sales away from cracking it.

So – get involved, download Margaret Yen from any of your favourite e-tailers (be it Amazon, iTunes, ah whatever…) or from our shop, and then just get ooh… say 50,000 of your pals to do so as well. Just imagine the queens face when that came up in casual post-speech conversation.

Awesome…. See you in the charts J Ross says….

“Santa believers and non-believers,

Unite! We are releasing ‘Margaret Yen’ as a single. With them crazy folk at Alcopop! Records. And we’re going to go Christmas number 2. With your help. We don’t want No.1. We fear it. Please don’t make us number 1.

Number 3 is also acceptable.”

For those who are about to rock this Christmas…

Ah gentle Christmas. What do you bring us for our winter-shocked shell pink ears? Oh I care little for the maudlin parumpapumpums of old, and one would barely give a sodden stocking satsuma for the turgid, glitzy, no-mark pop covers of the new… But somewhere in between this proliferation of crap, resides something a bit special. Those seasonal gems that make us indie kids dance and sing and think of mince pies, drunken dinners and grandparents looking befuddled as they ask you what a ‘Saves the Day’ is when you’re trying to explain what you want for Christmas.

Well I’ve been giving it a little think – and over on rockmidgets put together my top five Xmas hits, which they kindly found videos for. There’s one below – enjoy, or pop over to the site to read all about it…..

Alcopopping Xmas party @The Social, W1: Tellison, Stagecoach, My First Tooth and Aspen Sails!

MONDAY 14th DECEMBER in London town!!!

Christmas time again – what joy! So we thought that it was probably our duty to throw a nice festive bash in London town – and make it as damn sweaty as we can! So we invited 4 of the finest bands this good nation has to offer, grabbed a piece of intimate venue (The Social, W1) and prepared some pretty tasty goodie bags for the first 20 people through the door.

Expect snow, Christmas decorations and general loveliness too – as well as a lush 7 track Alcopop sampler free for every person who comes through the door.

Where else do you get all this for a fiver?

(Father) Tellison – need no introduction! And this is their only London show of what remains of 2009…. Indie pop deliciousness from utter legends!

(Rudolph the red nosed) Stagecoach – Seminal popstars from deep within the Surrey hills, and even deeper in the Alcopop heart. Imagine Americana pop lavished in melody, harmony and rock n roll sensibilities.

(We wish you a merry) My First Tooth – Prettier than a whole barrel of peaches and dearest siblings of Team PoP, My First Tooth will treat your heart to its biggest workout since Bambi. Folk-kissed indie pop you will literally die for.

(Frosty the) Aspen Sails – Newest kids on the block, Aspen Sails are a lush duo who pedal lovingly crafted folk pop, ideally enjoyed with a sherry or two.

Plus Alcopop DJs will be battling excellent online music boys The 405… Expect bombs dropped from all sides!

Would be delicious to see you… You can pre-order tickets (that will be a smidgen cheaper than on the door) here! It’s gonna be a cracker! Tellison have rocked up already see!

And talking of Tee Shirts…. Only one Alcocroc left!

Thanks Kev for that lovely thought – I’ll would have looked magnificent in that – about as lovely as I did last night, when asked to sing ‘So here it is, Merry Christmas’ by Slade alongside Alcopop favourites Pavilion on stage at the Christmas Party last night… You definitely won’t be seeing a video… Kev! No!

Oh, and so many thanks to everyone who turned out to see the majestic Sam Isaac, poptastic Stars & Sons, harmonious Pavilion and stratospheric Nima – we really appreciate it!

But back to the T-shirts, and to let you know that only one remains! That’s right – only one yellow on green Alcocroc will ever be sold from the Alcopop shop. It’s in medium, and that’s it! Available here for just £8….

Oh – and a rather magnificent picture of another popper in a tee shirt coming up in the next couple of days, as soon as I have a chance. Meanwhile, those nice folks at Kickers got in touch have invited me to offer some cocktails and throw some minutes at a CSS remix video tomorrow. Super stuff…
