The all new Team PoP (bands) shot!

How cool is this! Please witness, in all of their hand-drawn glory… The whole of the current Alcopop roster with full radness to boot.

sketched and sent by @karlipea… It’s amazing what you get through when you publically appeal for presents! :-) Totally tempted to put this onto tea-towels… How strong would it be to wash your dishes with Ross My First Tooth’s face!

BSM 5-A-Side Tournament video shows Alcopop have the skills to very much pay the bills

Ole – it’s time that the football season begins in earnest (although in fairness the only league that truly matters kicked off last week) – and in celebration of this dramatically ace fact, I’m keen to show you some true, liquid football… The kind that teenagers dream of their heroes performing, and premiership footballers strive their hardest to achieve.

This, ladies and gentleman, is the official video from the BSM 5-a-side tournament where tie-dye dreams were made, and dashed, and Blakfish became (for the day) official Alcopop cheerleaders. Look out for some incredible skills, most notably by Brett Ackroyd giving defences a torrid time, and a red hot interview with yours truly.

Strong times, strong African coloured kits.

Next year Team Pop, next year….

I see pride, I see power – I see a bad ass mudda in a tie-dye shirt!

Tie dyeing for champsAny professional will tell you that becoming a first team footballer takes more than just skill – you need passion, determination, the willingness to learn and luck to make it all the way. Many will fall by the wayside, many will crumble under pressure – but for those lucky few who make the grade….Then riches, glory and nail technician girlfriends beckon It is very much the same with the BSM 5-a-side tournament…

And while some idiots have spent time running around, practising football and that – Team Alcopop have concentrated on style over substance and this year embraced the classic tie-dye home kit. Yup, normally the haven of very old folk and hippies with far too much time on their hands, Team Pop last night begun the foray into the murky world of the washing up bowl and semi-permanently dyed fingers. With 5 of the squad in attendance, 8 tees (2 quid each from Primark) 3 packs of dye, some laccy bands and a large stick– some of the world’s greatest tie-dying ever was seen – Team PoP punting for a sizzling (and needlessly ambitious) trio of strong African painstakingly submerged in sections, ruining patios and skin alike, but potentially creating a fiery shirt long heralded as the best since Brazil ’70.

The Tee’s are still drying – but ill be sure to post up results… For now though, console yourself with these images of Captain Manus spearheading the team hard at work, and think… Isn’t it time I embraced a little tie dye?Image245
