Excellent poppers 4 – part 2: Burt Hill

meandjohnYou can read part one here if you haven’t done so already. If you have, here’s Burt – exposed – a bit more! Woop…

4.) You also run the Sam Isaac street team – what happens, and how do people get involved?

Well we’ve tried to make it all about real fans helping promote the music in any way they can and getting rewarded for it, from sticking a poster up in their school/college to playing tracks on Uni radio stations. If a few people tell a few more people about an artist it can snowball and help people hear about them who might not have done previously. If you get me? Get involved by going to myspace.com/samisaacstreetteam and filling in a quick form. You’ll get pleasant emails occasionally letting you know about how you can help.

5.) Any artists you’d like to recommend that we should listen to immediately?

I’d have to say a guy I met up in Manchester while at Uni there named John Elliott. Check him out at myspace.com/meandjohndotcom (pictured). He writes amazingly intimate Buckley-esque songs which make me really happy. If you’re not into that then listen to Stars, the Cinematic Underground and Peter Broderick.

6.) The first result in Google for ‘Burt Hill’ is a company who suggests working for them “means you will take risks, have freedom, and find your passion. Expect to be mentored, to question, to cultivate your own path.  Expect to be valued, to be an influencer, to be a part of the bigger picture“. This is clearly all sub-standard office HR bulls**t. What’s the REAL Burt Hill way of thinking?
Wow. Well in the past people have said I’m a ‘chilled out person’ but that phrase just scares me. I guess I like to know what’s going on and be kept in the loop but also don’t mind being a bit outrageous from time to time. I’d love to take life by the cajones more and regularly kick myself for letting opportunities pass me by. Performing is the reason I get up in morning and I love the outlook on life that the book ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ encourages.

Fine words – thanks Burt… Hear him in action here
