Malco, Emery and Mallia release threEPeople – YEAH!

We’re not trying to get you to spend ALLLLLL your money. Honest! But the gods of late August/early September have let it be known that they prefer a primarily Alcopop diet – and a damn fizzy one at that. See, not only are we mere days away from announcing another Johnny foreigner release (srsly im lrning lex spk too) – but we have perhaps one of our lovliest offerings in some time… Out today!

To sum up the story behind it (in a nutshell), our lovely new lady Katie Malco was keen to get out and see the sites during a summer tour of gardens, small festivals and such – so we hooked her up with two of our most beautiful boys in Warren Attika State and Matt Emery Stagecoach – booked a few shows and sent them packing. So far they’ve met ferrets in Capel, battled football hooligans with melody in Kingston – even partying in Bristol with spaghetti a-plenty.

To celebrate such endeavours, all 3 of them got together, recorded some lovely lo-fi songs with the help of Warren’s cat (seriously, you can hear her on the end of Warren’s Frank Turner esque belter 6 shots) – commited them to CD and digital locations – whilst all 3 artists and I (with Lady PoP) hand painted 25 sleeves each for putting them in. All individual, you’ve got owls, flags, kittens and even a picture of Warren looking very much like a sugarpuff monster. Voila! The threEPeople (clever name huh, yeah.. Thanks Elliott Morris)

You don’t know what you’re going to get – but you do know it’ll be bloody lovely! Available now from the PoP Shop for just 3 sheets, you can’t lose… You really can’t! Special Matt Emery related prize to anyone who snares the owl cover art (below).

Pulled apart by Matt Emery!

You know PoP favourites Stagecoach right? Well if you don’t get yourself into this shop and make good that mistake right away :D … If you do, you’ll no doubt be aware of delicious little Matty Emery – a charming gent from Dorking who not only hits things, but sings like an angel and plays the guitar/piano like an angel as well. Well – see, he’s been all sorts of busy of late and has put out this rad Pulled Apart by Horses cover album – where he’s covered some of their biggest hits, and looks like Andrew WK on the front cover.

That works for me – and you can download it for free here… Nice eh?

He’ll make you dance with his balls of fire!

Strong Arms by Elephants is out today!

And by gum it’s a cracker… Limited to just 100 hand made polaroid fronted sleeves of friends, family and lovers (each one different of course), it’s an edgy, raw emotion-fuelled romp through delicious indie-pop and well, you can see what The 405 think of it right about here! The digital artwork features little Matty Stagecoach, but you can take a look at every photo which will feature on the front of each of the CDs below…

Who will you get? Well, it’s a veritable mix of heroes, but you’ll just have to wait and see… Luck out with a member of Stagecoach and they’ll give you a tee if you drop em a line. Get an Elephants member and you win their last single on vinyl. Get the photo of Alcokitten on the front of your sleeve though and know that she chose you as her favourite popper of all (and that’s a prize that can’t be beat!)

Observe… And pick up your copy before it sells out x

Alcopop 5-a-side squad announced for the BSM football tournament

July is a coming, and like a magpie drawn to the shimmering beads of sweat cascading down the head of a once promising footballer, now ravaged by years of booze and late nights spent in filthy tour busses – otherwise respectable folk from across the music industry have caught the eye of the BSM 5-a-side football tournament. Not least at Alcopop Records!

After taking two strong squads to second place in first round groups in the last two years, we’re determined that this is our time – and from trials of 1000s have selected a fine squad from across the country. Front Magazine and their cheerleaders are going to be present, so handsome looks are of course assured – along with football talent in spades. Below is the squad – and introductions to the first of the intrepid four. 5 – 8 will come tomorrow.

AlcopopVIII

1.)    Thom ‘Cat’ – as agile as he is facially magnificent, Thom has represented Team PoP at both of the last 2 tournaments, conceding just 3 in 3 last year – as Alcopop bundled in 10 at the other end. Standing somewhere between Bruce Grobbelar and Dimitri Kharine in flair and style, his compact form is ideal for 5-a-side. Currently banned by the Oxfordshire FA from all competitive matches in the county.

2.)    Matt ‘Coach’ – Drummer in good friends of Alcopop, and Alcopopular 3 hero’s, Stagecoach – Matt may not have played for a year or two – but has fine pedigree in his formative years. Regularly stepping out for Horsham U16’s, he gave up the dream of premiership football for his love of music (and booze perhaps), and has the touch of a professional… As well as being facially magnificent.

3.)    Jack PoP – Me, and despite plenty better options I’ve named myself in the squad again (how arrogant). Former Allesley Ace U14 top scorer in the 95-96 season, and Cub Scout Football winner ’94, I went on to ply my trade for University Inter-Mural championship contending team ‘Little Donkey’ as an ever present centre back. Never, ever, even CLOSE to professional trials.

4.)    Manus – Skipper, boss, champ and Team PoP legend, Manus is the fire that never stops burning. Now entering his third year of captaining the side, his fitness, finishing and passion is quite phenomenal and has led to a hatful of goals in the Alcopop shirt. One to watch!
