Some words of wisdom about Alcopopular 4: ‘A Feast of Pop’

Ah it’s always lovely to get a nice bit of feedback from handsome heroes – and the compilation seems to be getting some good stuff from my very favourite folk. People have been enjoying picking their preferred tracks from the menu (Kev Devine, Freelance Whales and Stagecoach very popular so far) and the All You Can Eat selection is going down pretty rad too. Yup.

But enough of me – I’m bound to like it right. What’s way more important is folk at the likes of This is Fake DIY “spent a good few minutes gawping at the amazingness of the idea” – whilst Soundblab rate the beast 8/10 and suggest “Alcopop have set the bar in compilation mixes offering something truly unique and fresh for the listener.” Awww – thanks a lot chaps!

Alter the Press meanwhile really dig it – a 4/5/5 review and totally catching the raison d etre as it were… “Alcopop have managed to get a huge range of quality artists, ranging from rising, reasonably unknown talent to bigger tracks that many fans will recognise. The styles vary throughout, so it provides for some enjoyable listening. This compilation is sure to make you want to discover more from each and every one of these artists.”

Stagecoach & Elephants rampage out on tour….

Where are my manners! Just realised that somehow some rather important information has completely missed the blog over the last week or two – the rather ace matter of the forthcoming Stagecoach UK tour… F&*K yes!

Now you know what we think of the good ship Stagecoach… She’s a magnificent vessel with perfectly knotted rigging, billowing crisp white sails and cannons so loud that the crisp smack of cannonball to bow could raise the cowboy dead…. Yeah, you know we love them.

But even better news is that they’re going out on tour with the lovely Elephants, who’s raucous brand of indie rock is second only to their handsome faces.

It’s an awesome line up for true – and one that you would be ill-advised to miss, whatever perilous weather February bestows upon us. Look for the ace poster below, and be sure to follow @stagecoachuk on Twitter – for during tour giveaways and a whole lot of delicious banter besides.

See you there yeah?

Coming to America with Eddie Murphy

What a film! As luck would have it, a casual invitation to indulge in a couple of pleasant vices (and did you know that our record label was conceived, born and bred on vices alone – I really ought to write a blog post about that soon) soon led to aforementioned Eddie Murphy classic appearing on the TV…. And how I enjoyed it! It must be a good decade since I last saw that film, and a bit like Cool Runnings, the retro humour set my heart on fire – and I couldn’t take my eyes away from the hilarious capers that unfolded on screen.

Great show – but that was Monday, and as Wednesday lunchtime rolls around – I’ve had but 3 hours sleep and things are looking tough… Even Albi the Racist Dragon isn’t making me smile – and now a long trek to the post office beckons. Damnit. I’ll get a potato on the way though and all will be well…

Incidentally, did you know 2008 is the year of the potato – and here’s some potato factsheets right here! Are your potato’s succumbing to Potato pest and disease? Learn how to manage them…

Oh – and if you’ve made it to the end of this long and meandering post – congratulations! I probably shouldn’t tell you this but if anyone fancies a sneaky look at the Sam Isaac secret ‘Sideways’ website which contains free downloads, videos and all sorts of goodies – go to here and the password is *ahem* ‘stickerstar’ – shhhh – don’t tell ‘em I told you - but if you want to feel all warm and altruistic, buy Sam’s single!
