DEAR 2000 TREES

We’re only bloody taking over. Saturday at the Greehouse Stage with a load of bands inbetween. Yr Friends. (Lexi JoFo on his only solo festival performance of the year), Stagecoach, Gunning for Tamar, My First Tooth and The Attika State will all be performing beautiful stripped down melodic hits for your delectation and delight…

If you’re there, do come down, bring some beers and lets get raucous! It may be stripped back but this is still going to be a party… Oh, and if you don’t have tickets yet – head right on over here>>>>

So what are johnny foreigner upto these days?

One of the things we often get asked in our day to day Alcopop! lives is… What the fuck are johnny foreigner doing? Where are they?

To which the answer is, normally, in a practice room surrounded by clouds of smoke and excellent new hits. Our intrepid champ Aaron had a word >>>

You guys have been gone for what seems like forever, but you’re back to rock this earth with a huge Euro tour, visiting countries I thought were made up like Czech Republic and Slovakia, my friend also mentioned you guys may be heading to Malta if all goes to plan. Can you explain more about this tour and where you have been these past few month’s young man:
We’ve been gone like 2 months! We’ve been writing new songs and designing more arts and complaining about tories on the internet. The crazyass Eurotour stems from us realising there’s waaay too many places we’ve never been to, wheras Malta, these kids just called us up and asked if they could put us on. I wish everyone was so proactive.

What do bands like Johnny Foreigner miss the most about the UK when touring the world? Do you guys take a bag full of Yorkshire puddings around with you, or what?
nothing really? Orange lucozade mayhaps. And I guess, being able to speak the language, or rather, not being ashamed at having to conduct conversations in english. Mostly tho, we’re total tourists; anything that’s worse than back home gets a reprieve cos it’s foreign and strange and new. Cf; every gas station sandwich ever..

Will you guys be gracing us in the UK with your live shows at any point this year?
Yeh, no proper tour till autumn, but the usual festival circuit and a few odd shows scattered around.

One of the first things that drawn me to Johnny Foreigner was the close knit relationship with your fans, what’s it like sinking beers with fans and seeing your lyrics or the Johnny Foreigner ghost tattooed onto them?
The tattoos etc are flattering, but more importantly, kinda prove to us that we’re doing something that matters. Right, in our heads we have this possibly wrong, probably naive idea that mutal love of the same music equates with social compatability. That conciet is like, our religion. Sometimes I talk to dudes in other bands and they’re like, how do you have such a mental fanbase? And I think it’s sad cos the base level is us not treating people like “fans”; these are people who share the same record collection / shoes / hair / whatever as us; they’d be our friends if we lived there but as it is they just paid 8 quid to watch us, so the least we can do, as Good Humans, is go say hi thanks how are you. So to answer yr question, its the same as drinking with my friends, only I forget their names more often.

Anything else you would like to add for the readers of the Alcopop! blog before I leave you be?
BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER.

And it seemed to be pretty slap bang RAD, so I thought I’d slap it on the blog too. That’s lazy jourmalism right, but honest this baby has got so many free tracks, awesome things and general fun in it… It seemed silly not to! I guess the key things to take from it are that you must come and see us at SWN label market if you happen by… That we have lots of bloody awesome bands… You are great… AND WE NOW RETAIL SWEATERS INSPIRED BY BLOODY JURASSIC PARK*

do buy one…

=================================
1.) Jurassic Park Sweater. Clever Alcopop!
2.) Bear Cavalry 8 track EP for sale, with poster
3.) Brand (ish) new signing… Oh No! Yoko
4.) Screaming Maldini on XFM
5.) New Johnny Foreigner track. Naughty Johnny Foreigner
===================================

1.) Inspired by the best moment of the 90′s/scene of film history – may we introduce our new sweaters. Simple, Sexy, Packed with full in your face Velociraptor, there’s not a awful lot to say about these badboys, other than buying this will make you instantly more popular…. Do so here. I can’t honestly tell you how much we at Alcopop! love Jurassic Park. Hope you love Jurassic Park too – now slap it on your chest Perfect for winter too. It’s getting cold out there, and these are lovely, good quality warm Gildan. Don’t freeze out there…! (picture below)

2.) 8 Tracks?! On an EP for a fiver… Surely not? Well, sort of. This cracking EP from fizzy Gosport heroes Bear Cavalry is a lush, well groomed 4 track of an EP on CD, but also contains a download card with 4 extra acoustic tracks included for you. It also comes with super nice lyric poster, and should you care to try before you buy as t’were, check out this free split they released with Crushing Blows. Free download? Oh sure x

3.) And did we tell you we’d signed a new band. Ushering in the first of our moose-hugging bretheren from Canada, please welcome the MIGHTY Oh No Yoko! An absolute lesson in what makes super fun, stripped back, laid out math pop. A debut 7″ is following later this month with a 35 date tour (London on the 9th November) – but in the meantime, check this track out. It’s insanely good!

4.) Screaming Maldini have been busy too, and their recent whacked out awesome feel-good hit of the post summer, Summer, Somewhere has been seeing lots of online love, and a session with the lovely John Kennedy on XFM. Whatsmore, Matt Berry (he of the IT Crowd) has remixed it too. What a champ x Album next year… Just MAYBE! (So excited)

5.) And johnny foreigner are in the doghouse after yesterday releasing a track from their brand new Names EP (available in the shop as a bevvy of card-backed badges out at the end of the month) without telling the adults first! Luckily, as they’re on a whistle-stop tour of the UK and America and the song is literally mindblowing, we have forgiven them. Listen and download free here, and realise why they need a permanent residence in your heart!

So that’s all for now chaps but as ever, we love you. We need you. We care. Anyone at SWN by the way? – we’re heading down tomorrow and have a stall at the label market on Saturday and would love a beer with you (probably. Unless you’re horrible. And if you were, you wouldn’t be reading this!)

Lv Jack and Kev

* Obviously these sweaters are in no way endorsed by, official products of or licencsed by Jurassic Park. Just borne out of massive love for the best film ever made.
