Glow Kit bringeth the Christmas Cheer

I don’t know about you, but I don’t care much for Christmas unless it’s delivered fresh from Denmark along with the kind of lovingly scruffy pop tunes that eminate from the coolest kids in town – AKA Glow Kit.

Fine of face, and so masterful of a GREAT pop tune, Glow Kit graced our ears with an awesome self-titled Glow in the Dark album back in May (seriously rad if you don’t own it) – before popping over for a couple of brief legendary shows whilst oh so *nearly* getting the Ikea advert.

They didn’t, so we all live on in poverty – but safe in the knowledge that credibility is still intact. So, you can happily listen to this – and know you’re cool. Crack a Hooch… It’s all GOOD!

Glow Kit ‘GLOW IN THE DARK’ album out today!

You’ve heard their free single, seen them at TGE and here now is the heart achingly ace Glow Kit byGlow Kit - a slice of power pop so hot this album is all over in under 26 minutes, even though there’s 14 tracks involved. Go purchase if you like epically cool albums in hand-spray-paintedGLOW-IN-THE-DARK sleeves. Only 100 of the ltd edition ones exist, and they almost killed Tom AC/DSleeve. Our shop is the place!

Rather than me wax lyrical, why not listen to wise words – here from the good folks at Blue Walrus: “A record like this sounds incredibly vibrant; they could write these kinds of songs in their sleep, but not a single one sounds tossed off, and Head Factory, the song which was used to flag the album before release, is merely the tip of the iceberg. Do You Reallyand Misunderstood are the songs on which the band sound the most raucous, but the entire album is filled with an infectious, feel-good energy. Glow Kit write songs simply for the pleasure of making music, and it’s a noble ideal that they deserve plenty of credit for.”

Wanna hear another choice cut from the record – oh of COURSE you do…

Alcopop at the Great Escape (Friday May 11th)

We’re all going to the SEASIDE! To play the Dolphin Derby and watch some bands. We might even indulge in an ice cream or two, and we’d bloody love for you to come join us. So we’ve got together with our pals at BSM and 7 Bit Arcade to put on a little free show at the Royal Pavilion Tavern as part of the Alternative Escape on Friday 11th May!

If you were there last year (pictured), you’ll well remember that it was an understated tea party style affair, completely suitably for all the family – very polite, and not at all a debauched boozefest which ended with insane stage diving, chandaliers being ripped from the ceiling and yours truly being threatened with expulsion from the venue for ‘inciting chaos’. Put simply, it was bloody amazing – and you should TOTALLY come down this year too. We kick off at 1 in the afternoon, bands on till 2am (13 hours – yup!) with the 405 DJs till 6am. This could be the party of the Spring!

Check out the line up, remember it’s free and get there early. Last year it was one in one out from 5pm…
